| Not much new going on these days. It's been the same routine for me this summer almost everyday. It consists of going to work, possibly taking a nap afterwork, dinner, then 2hrs of tennis or 2hrs at the ARC. I usually try to squeeze in some video games as well. This has been the most active summer I've have in terms of exercise. I pretty much have some sort of exercise activity 5-6days out of the week. If I had a hard day at the ARC I usually play some tennis or just do some jogging. Work has been getting pretty monotonous lately. I guess theres no new surprises and everything is pretty much routine. The only time I'm happy that I have this job is when I'm spending my earnings haha. I've been doing better in terms of saving my paychecks lately and hopefully my other paychecks will be saved up for me to use during the school year. I know this one guy at work who lives pretty much paycheck to paycheck and I'd rather not live that way. Especially when some fools spend money before they even get their paycheck is kinda whack.
It feels good to take a break from classes though, I can sleep easier at night and there has been less stress. After work its not like I have to study so I have the rest of the day to do what I want. I'm sure I have to quit this job during the school year though because the headaches of midterms and the time consuming engineering classes are gonna catch up to me.

| Soo I've been working for about 3 weeks at this job now and so far it's been positive. The coworkers are all really relaxed and everyone is a jokester at the work place. It's been no big pressure to finish too many things at once since it's July and August, we're only pressured to finish for those conference housing people. When September rolls around is when there's pressure to finish up things before the thousands of freshman move in. There are few positives in my job.
Two paid holidays Yes! A freakin paid holiday for 4th of July and Labor Day. I sit around and get paid for doing nothing.
Full-time status They offer a lot of hours (40hrs a week) and usually give me more time to finish things than its required. I get to work at my own pace and usually independently. It's not that bad since after work it's not like I have to study or anything.
All access keys I get this master key set that opens any door in Caurto. The trick is to find which one is the one that works. It makes me feel cool I have that power hah.
Layed back There isnt a lot of pressure right now so thats good. Everyone tells me to take it easy and take my time. As long as I finish the days work I'm fine. When was the last time your boss or supervisor told you to '"take your time" on the job?
Handyman skills Doing all this maintenance stuff would probably help in the future if theres a random fix it jobs back at home. Probably if theres a home improvement project I'd be able to help my dad or something. I'm pro with fixing blinds now since I do that 70% of the time, but with so many rooms to go through and so many problems it gets a little tiring.
The negatives are a few but just waking up early at 6:30am to make it to 7am work takes a little to get used to. Once in awhile I have to snake a drain to clean it out, usually its clean but when theres hair its sorta yucky. Lastly it does get boring once in awhile, but its a job and theres a cash flow I mean cash trickle coming in. I'd rather be bored and getting paid than being bored at home with no pay at all.
On a final note people have been wondering what I'm going to spend my summer's earnings on. I'm not exactly sure at the moment. At first it was the pay for the summer rent, but thats already paid for so it's up in the air on what I should buy. I was thinking new RAM for my computer or a new video card. Or maybe a few clothes for Fall?? I really don't have too many plans right now, but I feel better when I dont have to be so tight with money. Just knowing that I have cash and I dont need to penny pinch so much puts me at ease. Saving it doesn't hurt right? Be patient and the oppertunity will present itself. Buying a car is out of the question because even if i buy the car i wont use a lot in Davis and I dont have enough for insurance payments every month and I haven't even mentioned gas yet.

| I am just glad that finals for this quarter and this year is over, it has been a year of lows and highs but mainly lows. Academically I am pretty dissapointed in myself until this quarter where my grades are climbing up. I hope my grades climb up to where the used to be next year when I take upperdiv courses which hopefully are more interesting. I actually learned a good amount of stuff this year, not just in my classes. Mainly just how to balance my fun time with my study time and how to be more effiecent. I used to only study Monday through Thursday and Sunday night freshman year and I did well. This year when classes were tougher everything took more time to do and expectations were higher. There were a lot of times when I could have gotten a good grade, but I screwed it up it slipped out of my hands. I was starting to doubt myself and my abilities for awhile. A lot of times I wondered why I am in such a hard major in the first place. I like the things I can do with this major civil engineering, but it's a long road to finish this degree. At least I'm halfway done, 2 years down and 2 more to go.
Some people think I'm crazy for picking a summer job in Davis for student housing maintenance and working full time this summer. The same goes for my job position. People are like "Whats maintenance? Are you a janitor?" It seems like I have to explain myself over and over. I dont really have a lot of money so working a lot this summer will help me save up for next year as a 3rd year. Well the day after finals I had to start working. It started off with an orientation, photo badge pictures, and an introduction to the staff. Then they put me to work in Caurto where all my work will be done from now on. My supervisor wants me to be trained in fixing vertical blinds for now. He wants me to get good at it so I can work alone pretty soon. I work with another professional and its a pretty chill job actually. Literally chill job because we turn on the A/C in the dorms while we work. It looks like I have to go into every room and check every blinds in all the Caurto buildings. It's not that bad actually, I get to take little breaks while I work as long as I get the job done on time. Fixing blinds means replacing the clips for the plastic panels that hang down mainly. I also change the string mechanism that opens and closes the blinds, change the panels if they're damaged( fools shoot airsoft at them), and cut the bottoms if they're too long. I'll probably be fixing blinds for a few weeks before I do something else. Actually they'll probably assign me random odd jobs in between fixing blinds. My other co-worker are moving some vacuums around, checking light bulbs or discarding old toilet seats for now. They told us we don't need to clean anything up, thats for custodians except if we do some carpentry and wood shavings are there.
So yea, I can only do one thing at a time as in taking classes or working. My thinking is if I take classes I'm gonna take a full load and concentrate only on classes. Same goes for a job, I didnt want to work part time so applied for a full-time position. Actually full-time at most pay rates are pretty good already considering this job isnt too hard. My co-workers are pretty cool and the staff are all layed back people. One of the best perks of this job is it's 2 blocks away from my apartment, so a short 8min walk gets me to work in the morning. I can run home to a quick lunch and run back no prob to avoid buying subway everyday. Like my co-worker put it "thats about an hours work right there" pointing at our sandwhiches. I should get a ARC membership while I'm here. My legs are a bit tired from a days work walking between so many rooms. Soon they should be used to it and I'll hit the ARC after dinner or play tennis or something like that. I should find a good time to go home soon. I haven't been home in awhile actually.

| Yea I'm not really dead just too lazy to update this blog. Things have been looking up this quarter at least. I suppose once this quarter ends I might do some more updates, but for now I'll continue to neglect my blog.
Deftones is a good band. I havent listened to this album in a few years and I downloaded it recently. I'm tired of whiney emo voices and pop punk bands. Than again I find myself listening to some of it too. What happened to the hardrock metal bands of the 90's?
